Following a blog by email, how it works

The service used for ALD History Blog, "Blogger", offers the possibility of getting new posts directly in your mailbox. I have tested how this works with ALD History Blog (http://aldhistory.blogspot.fi/) as well as with the highly recommended BALD Engineering blog (http://www.blog.baldengineering.com/). Conclusion is that email subscription works very well and I can recommend it to others.

During the first half of 2016, VPHA will be active and there will be many new posts, each sharing something new and taking VPHA in small steps forward. For those not actively following professional social media (LinkedIn and/or Twitter), email subscription would be an easy way to stay up to date with new information.

Features of email subscription:
  • If there have been posts on a particular day, you will get one email.
  • If there have been many posts on that day, you get them all in one email.
  • It is easy to unsubscribe, if you don't want to get messages anymore.

Below is how it looks after you have completed the very easy subscription procedure (you simply give your email + confirm by writing the code that appears to make sure it is a real person making the request).

Now you're done. Next time there is a post, you will get an email digest of it directly to the email address that you gave. To my understanding, the email addresses of those who subscribe are NOT shared with the writers of the blog. At least so far I have not seen even a way to see how many people follow by email.

If you later don't want to get the emails any more, you can unsubscribe from each message. I tested this, successfully:
